About your day on the water

Your day on the water will start with meeting at a location convenient to you, and you will either ride with Tanner or follow him to the lake where the fish have been biting.  You will fish from the front of Tanner's roomy,  2007 Ranger 620VS, powered with a 250HP Mercury Pro XS.  Tanner will teach you everything that you will need to know to make your day successful and the knowledge to fish in the same manner on your own.  The hours of fishing are dictated by the fish, fishing when the fish are most active.  A day of fishing with Tanner may include fishing a number of lakes in a day, and travel time does not count as part of your fishing time for the day.  A full day of fishing is a FULL day, Tanner does not "double book" days. A full day is at least 8 hours on the water.  At the end of the day, you will leave the boat knowing more about fishing, to help make you a better angler.

Flambeau River Float Trips

Throughout Wisconsin's musky season, Tanner provides Flambeau River float trips.  The Flambeau River is one of the best musky fishing rivers in Wisconsin and receives very light fishing pressure.  The Flambeau River holds many fish along with trophies in its shallow water environment.  On October 12, 2005,  Tanner experienced a 12 fish day with the fish ranging in size from 32 inches to 42 inches.  Tanner has had clients boat muskies up to 49 inches.  During the warmer  summer months, with the river being shallow,  topwater baits are used most of the time.  All Flambeau river float trips are done from a 17 foot jon boat while Tanner keeps you positioned with the oars.  A typical float trip is usually 7 hours in length.

Spring Time Fishing

Starting the first Saturday in May our fishing season opens for everything but muskies.  From then until Memorial day weekend I focus mostly on walleye fishing, both eater size fish and trophies.  I will teach you a variety of ways to catch these walleye's on many different waters, from jigging to open water trolling.  I will show you the best way to catch walleyes in the spring time.  Numbers of fish are caught this time of the year and big fish.  Also this time of the year there is great crappie fishing on the Chippewa flowage, perch fishing on LCO, giant pike fishing on the Chip and Round lake, and bass fishing everywhere in the Hayward area! Come up in the spring and see all that it has to offer!  At day's end, I will mark a map if you would like and clean all of your fish and package them up for your freezer!  We only keep the smaller males in the spring and release the larger females to help keep our population strong!
